Flora Morris Rogers was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. She passed away at her home in Stevenson, Alabama on September 19, 2023. She is survived by her sons Paul Dennis Rogers, Michael (Cheryl) Rogers, daughter Carla Rogers, granddaughter Michele Rogers, sisters Elaster Sells, Lois Cunningham, and Jimmie Steele, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband James Rogers, parents Eliza and James Thomas Morris, Brothers Cal Russell Morris and Paul Morris, sisters Jennie Morris, Amy Stubblefield, Willie T. Perry, Margaret Morris, and Martha Bowen.
She was born on April 10, 1934, at her home in Sinking Cove, Tennessee. Flora was no stranger to hard work. She grew up in Sinking Cove where she helped her parents and siblings take care of each other and their family farm. She married James Rogers on July 24, 1954. She was a homemaker who loved taking care of her family as well as many children she babysat over the years. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, going for walks, visiting with family and friends, and watching the Atlanta Braves. She was well known for her fried pies and cakes. You counted yourself lucky if you were able to receive one for a special occasion.
Flora had a servant’s heart like no other. She will be deeply missed, and her memory treasured by family and friends. A funeral at Rudder Funeral Home in Stevenson, Alabama is scheduled for Thursday, September 21st at 3:00 P.M. with Brother Carey Smith officiating. The family will receive family and friends beginning at 11:00 A.M. for visitation. Burial will be at Cumberland Cemetery in Sinking Cove.
