Floie Shedd Duvall Profile Photo Floie Shedd Duvall, of Holly Pond, Alabama, entered heaven’s gates on Monday morning, January 9, 2023, at the age of 88.

Mrs. Duvall was born to Mathis John and Emma Lee Young Shedd on September 20, 1934, in Cullman County, Alabama.

Floie was a member of the Redan Baptist Church family. Tommy and Floie married on January 14, 1954, and they would have celebrated sixty-nine years of marriage on Saturday. Floie was a good woman, a woman of virtue, and those who loved Floie knew that to know her was to love her. Mrs. Duvall defeated cancer four separate times. She was a strong woman – a fighter, and her faith in Christ and love of her family saw her through not only her battle with breast cancer, but her fight against lymphoma as well. Floie was a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed making home a welcoming place for her husband and children and enjoyed showing her family her love for them with the meals she prepared. Floie was a dear friend to many. She was always there for those who needed her – anybody, and everybody. Her love and support for those she loved knew no bounds. Floie loved without hesitation or reserve, and she will be missed greatly by her family and friends.

Mrs. Duvall is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ottis Shedd, Lonnie Shedd, Norman Shedd; and a sister, Tava Shedd Brown.

Those surviving Floie includes her beloved husband, Tommy Duvall; son, Tommy Russell Duvall (Cecelia); daughter, Dorinda Duvall Smith (Rodney); grandchildren, Adriane Duvall, Blake Horne (Paige), Quyenten Duvall (Jordan), Kloe Duvall, Raven Smith, Alex Robinson (Melanie), Austin Robinson, Hope Sonnier (Gabe); great-grandchildren, Kaden, Raylee, Maci, Aubree, and baby boy Sonnier; sister, Evelyn Batemon; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Duvall are 1 p.m., Friday, January 13, 2023, in the Holly Pond Funeral Home Chapel, Layne Howard and Rodney Smith officiating. Burial will follow services in Redan Cemetery where Mrs. Duvall’s nephews will serve as her pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Bosom Buddies of Cullman. Friends are invited to join the family for a time of visitation on Friday, at the funeral home, beginning at 10 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in memory of Floie to a Breast Cancer Awareness Organization.

Both Blount County/Cleveland Funeral Home and Holly Pond Funeral Home are honored to serve the Duvall family.
