Funeral service for Rev. Ferriel D. Roberts, 84, will be Thursday, May 21, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Leon Holt and Bro. Doyle Durham officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Burial will be in Johnson Chapel Cemetery . Visitation will be Wednesday, May 20, 2015 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Mr. Roberts died on Sunday, May 17, 2015 at Summerford Rehab Unit. He was born May 22, 1930, in Morgan County to Rev. Charles Berry Roberts and Maggie Walden Downs. He misrepresented his age at 17 and ran away to joined the U.S. Airforce. He has been a Minister of the Gospel for 62 Years, pastoring churches in Alabama and Ohio. He was presently the pastor of Liberty Baptist Church in Laceys Spring, and has been there for 25 years. He was the owner-operator on The Bull Restaurant & Truck Stop and The Hartselle Truck Stop and Restaurant. He was Co-owner with his wife of the Hartselle Auction, the Laceys Spring Auction, and the Crossroads Auction. He was a licensed auctioneer with the title of Colonel and was a graduate of the Nashville Auctioneer School. He worked for 7 years with the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department, and also worked with the Hartselle Police Department, and Falkville City Police Department. He attended Howard College and Calhoun Community College. He was survived by his baby “Bristol” , his pet Chihuahua, who was his constant companion. He was a wonderful father to his 6 children and an even better grandfather and great grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, 7 sisters and 3 granddaughters: Chantey Roberts, Anita Roberts and Shana Howard.
His family wishes to express a special thanks to the Summerford Rehab Unit and to Dr. Amit Vora for their care. Also, a special thanks to his son-in-law: Joe Stewart for being a good caregiver to him.
