Faye Hendrix Terry Faye Terry, 85, passed from this life on Saturday, October 8, 2022, while in the loving care of her family. Faye was born June 25, 1937 in the Kitchens Mill Community of Lawrence County to Harvey Andrew Hendrix and Mable Clara Kitchens Hendrix. Faye was married to James Lewis Terry in 1955. He preceded her in death in 1976.
After the death of her husband, Faye continued to raise her two daughters in a Christian home taking them on fun and educational trips whenever possible. She warmly welcomed the girls’ friends who would visit and her door was always open to them.
Faye was a church secretary for many years and after her children were grown, she was employed by Osborne’s Jewelry in Athens for over 20 years in accounting. She was a longtime member of Westmeade Baptist Church.
Faye adored each and every member of her family and the grandchildren and great grandchildren loved to visit with their precious “Boo Boo”.
Faye was an avid genealogist who traced many of her family lines back for several generations and was the author of a book on the history of her Kitchens ancestors. She had voluminous collections of information on many of her other ancestral lines.
She served on the board of directors of the Morgan County Genealogical Society as Publications Manager and was a volunteer worker at the Morgan County Archives. While working at the Archives, she was part of a team who compiled and published over fifty volumes of obituaries from newspapers dating from pre-1900 through 1959. These books were subsequently donated to the Archives.
Faye was also a dedicated volunteer worker for the Findagrave.com website. She photographed memorial stones throughout Morgan and Lawrence Counties and published them with memorials on the Findagrave site as well as providing as much genealogical information as could be obtained for each memorial. Before her illness, she had added over twenty-one thousand memorials to Findagrave.com and photographed over forty-one thousand monuments. Faye Terry left a legacy through her dedication to genealogy that will be perpetual in its usefulness to researchers.
Faye was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James; and two brothers, Waymon and Edwin Hendrix.
She is survived by two daughters, Deb Terry Hamric and Janice Terry Braudaway (Gary); a sister, Sue Hendrix Carullo (Sal); Grandchildren Blake Matthew Hamric (Rebekah) and Hannah Braudaway Blevins (Cole); Great grandchildren, Camden Addison Harris and Brayden Lee Hamric; a nephew, Scott Andrew Carullo and two nieces, Stefania Terry Lewis and Teresa Terry Bound.
A graveside service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with Rev. Justin McAlpin officiating and music provided by David and Laura Burdeshaw.
Pallbearers will be Blake Hamric, Gary Braudaway, Cole Blevins, Jonathan Thrasher, David Duncan, Bobby Sandoval and Wayne White.
