Faye “Mimi” Cockrell Carson

Faye “Mimi” Cockrell Carson, age 82 of Jackson, passed away on April 19, 2022 at her residence at Regency Retirement Village.

Faye was born on September 2, 1939 in Louisville, MS to the late Russell and Clarice McClenahan Cockrell. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. She was entrepreneur with her husband, Tommy as owners of The Fashion Barn and Merle Norman Cosmetic Studio. Later in life, she went back to college to earn a degree in nursing from Union University. Faye worked as a surgical and home health nurse until her retirement. She was affectionately known as “Mimi” to four grandchildren and four great grandchildren who were the center of her life.

Faye was a faithful Christian woman who loved her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. As a longtime member of Meridian Baptist Church, Faye was actively involved in the Daytime Women’s Ministry and several ministries over the years. She met many friends and always looked forward to her Weekly Bible Studies.

Faye also had a great love for sports. When her boys were younger she traveled many miles and sat in many bleachers cheering for their teams. This love continued as she watched her grandchildren excel in sports and music where she made every attempt to be there supporting and cheering them on. No matter the occasion, Mimi always looked forward to being with family and friends. Those that knew her well will miss her big personality.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Neal “Tommy” Carson. Mother and Father, Russell and Clarice Cockrell, Brothers, Donnie and Daryl Cockrell.

She is survived by her sons, Randy Carson (Wendy) of Maryville, TN and Rusty Carson (Lisa) of Jackson; Grandchildren, Colin Carson of Seattle, WA, Kelsey McAdams(Cole) of Union City, TN, Bethany Anderson(Kyle) of Maryville, TN and Rachel Abbott (Nathan) of Bridgeville, PA. Great-Grandchildren, Landon, Saylor and Carson McAdams of Union City, TN and William Anderson of Maryville, TN. Sister, Lynda Weatherly of Jackson, TN

The family will receive friends and loved ones on Sunday afternoon, April 24, 2022 from 2-3:30 p.m. at Meridian Baptist Church, 161 Harts Bridge, Jackson. The funeral service will follow at 3:30 p.m. with Bro. Curtis Gardner officiating. Burial will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery (594 Medon Malesus Rd, Medon, TN 38356)
