Evone Newell, 92, passed away Saturday, November 25, 2023 at his residence. He was born in Itawamba County, MS to Jessie Lee and Annie Ethel Grammer Newell. He worked in garment manufacturing for many years. He was a member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church and was a veteran of the US Army serving in Korea.
Funeral services will be Sunday, November 26, 3 p.m. at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Glenn Bridgmon officiating. Burial will be in New Bethel Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS will be in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Bobbie Newell; son, Nicky Newell (Debra); grandchildren, Drew Newell (Heather) and Dillon Newell (Brittany); great-grandchildren, Westyn, Paxton and Ellori Newell; brothers, James Newell (Polly) and Elton Newell; sister, Wanda Campbell (Gaylon) and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandchild, Devin Newell; brothers, Otis Newell, Gene Newell, Lavane Newell, Malone Newell, O.T. Newell and Elvis Newell and one sister, Mavis Goddard.
Pallbearers will be Dicky Sparks, Jeff Sparks, Darrell Newell, Kerry Newell, Drew Newell, Dillon Newell, Westyn Newell, Paxton Newell, John Sparks and Johnny Mac Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church and the Men’s Sunday School class.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 26, 1-3 p.m. at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church.
