Evia Larry Sales was born on June 4, 1931, to Candy Sims and Annie Brooks in Eclectic, Alabama. Evia was the youngest of four siblings who preceded her in death: Buddy Sims, Sarah Walker, J.C. Sims, and Asbury.
She met and married her first husband Sgt. Hilry E. Larry (who preceded her in death) on March 13, 1955. They were married for 20 years. While on tour in Kaiserslautern, Germany, they adopted their daughter, Hilda Jean (Tina) Larry. Evia met and married her second husband, William Sales, who also preceded her in death.
She was employed by Redstone Arsenal for 35 years. She attended Progressive Union M. B. Church during the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s and considered it her church home. While there she was a faithful member of the Titus Group. This was during the time Herbert Cartwright, Jr. was pastor. In the past 10 years she relocated to South Carolina and back to Alabama. She spent her final days in the loving company of her daughter in South Carolina.
The loves of her life not only included her family, but also enjoying a friendly game of Bingo and cards.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, daughter, Tina Larry Ruffin; Devin Ruffin (the father of their two sons); grandsons, Kazdon and Kylan; nephews: Larue Larry (Carla), and their two sons, Matthew and Mykal; and Albert Larry (Juanita), their son Alex and daughter, Alexis; and niece, Albertine Larry; chosen daughter, Karla Watkins; special friend, Veronica Marion and a host of family and friends.
