The family of Everne Black will receive friends at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home on Tuesday February 8th, 2022, from 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. A graveside memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Ardmore, Alabama with Bro. Ronald Wallace officiating. Mrs. Black passed away at Decatur Morgan Hospital on February 5th, 2022.
Everne was born September 29th, 1937 in Athens, Alabama. She is preceded in death by her husband Charles Black, daughter Sylvia Mitchell, son Mike Black, her brothers Roy Tucker and Marvin Tucker, sister Erlene Adams, and her parents Lakin and Beulah Tucker. She is survived by her daughter Linda Saunders (Jason), daughter Judy Hamilton, her grandchildren Phillip Hamilton, Khristy Smith, Shane Black, Addie Saunders, Nate Saunders, 8 great grandchildren, and her two sisters Lois Glass and Cynetha Leicher.
Everne was a lifelong member of Cairo United Methodist Church where she served for years teaching Sunday School and anything else needed at the time. She loved the Lord with all her heart, was a true servant, and all the people meant so much to her.
Everne was a shy, smart, quite type and was a person of few words but she was very strong and had a faith and dedication to the Lord that very few have. When she was well, she loved to read, do word searches, and play bingo with her friends at Columbia Cottage. She loved her family dearly and always wanted to take care of them. She always saw the best in people and spent much more time listening and taking everything in rather than talking and giving her opinion. She always had such a sweet peaceful spirit about her and would always have a smile for anyone she met. To her family and everyone who knew her she was a true joy and will be deeply missed.
