Evelyn Stanfield Bennett ,96, departed this life on September 13, 2016 in Memphis. She was born June 18, 1920 in Ramer, TN the daughter of the late John T. Stanfield and Julia Prather Stanfield. She was united in marriage to Sam E. Bennett who preceded her in death on August
24, 1984.
Mrs. Bennett was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Memphis. She enjoyed singing in her church choirs and playing piano. She was a graduate of Ramer High School and also taught school in Ramer during World War II. .Her passion other than her grandchildren was her tremendous collections such as fenton glass, african violets, daylilies, sea shells, and special teacups. Mrs. Bennett was a talented artist and loved painting and collecting bird memorabilia. She enjoyed bowling, sewing, traveling, and camping.
She is survived by a daughter, Pam Crutcher and husband Wayne of Memphis; two grandchildren, Jonathan Guess and wife Amanda of Bartlett, TN, Mandy Ryals and husband Frankie of Munford, TN; four great grandchildren, Destiny Guess, Logan Ryals, Wyatt Guess, Warren Guess; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Bennett was preceded in death by a son, Roy Dwain Bennett, USAF Retired.
