Evelyn P. Smith, 91, passed away Saturday surrounded by family. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She was born in Burlison, TN and grew up on a farm. She went to school in Covington, TN and moved to Memphis to begin work as an office manager at the corporate office of Terminix Corporation. After marrying the love of her life, they moved to Fort Walton Beach, FL then to Huntsville, AL to follow Sam’s NASA career.

Evelyn was a member of Whitesburg Baptist Church for almost 50 years and the Morning Glories group was very special to her.

Survivors include her daughter, Melanie Smith (David); her son, Mark Smith (Amanda); grandsons, Steven Smith (Whitney), Adam Smith (Jessie), Nathaniel and Jack Henry; and great-grandson, Drew. She is also survived by three brothers, Bud Pence (Pam), Donald Pence, and Terry Pence (Margie); and her lifelong friend, Martha Jean Goulder.

Her family was her top priority, and she hosted all family dinners and holiday celebrations. She loved cooking, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren.

The family would like to express our deepest appreciation for the wonderful care given by the nurses and staff on the 7th floor Huntsville Hospital.
