Evelyn Marie Coleman, 83, of Huntsville, AL passed away July 22, 2024, at Huntsville Hospital. Evelyn was born in Sebring, FL, December 2, 1940, to Clayton and Vera Waters Coleman.

Evelyn graduated in 1957 from Collins High School in Collins, GA and was Valedictorian of her class. She married Archie Danny Coleman, July 17, 1960, to whom she was married 53 years before his passing.

Evelyn was a dedicated homemaker and mother of 2 boys Clint and Chris. While she no longer cooked in her latter life, to this day we remember her skills in the kitchen. Everyday Evelyn’s family had a freshly prepared meal on the table for supper. Her pork chops and pot roast were among her son’s favorites and her fried chicken had everyone racing to claim the last piece.

Evelyn was a member of Cedar Creek Primitive Baptist Church. Once she was physically unable to attend church, she would watch a televised church service every Sunday. While she loved talking on the phone, everyone knew not to dare call during church!

Evelyn’s family would like to thank all the caregivers from Home Instead who helped her the past years and also each and every doctor and nurse at Huntsville Hospital who cared for her while she was hospitalized until death. May God bless you all.

Survivors include sons, Clint Coleman (Jennifer) and Chris Coleman (Vivian); grandsons, Aaron Coleman, Turner Coleman (Hannah), and Landen Coleman; granddaughter, Abigail Junen (Patrick); great-grandchildren, Annie Junen and Mary Allen Junen; sister-in-law, JoFaun Waters; sister, Emma Hess (Billy); nephews and nieces, Greg Hess (Dee Dee), Julie Williams, Kevin Waters (Candace), and Kelly McMillian (Blake); and several great-nephews and great-nieces.

Visitation will be from 3 to 4 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral will follow in the chapel at 4 p.m. Burial will be at Cedar Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Collins, GA with a graveside service at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 3, 2024.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Cedar Creek Primitive Baptist Church, Huntsville Hospital Foundation or a charity of your choice.
