Evelyn Linville Campbell, fondly known as “Skinny,” age 93, of Huntsville, beloved wife, and mother, passed away peacefully on May 30, 2024.
Born in Wayne County, TN, Skinny attended Greenhill High School. She later moved to Huntsville, where she lived for 62 years and built a remarkable career. Skinny worked with Dr. Wernher von Braun on his executive staff as an executive secretary. Her tireless contributions to the Saturn V test program earned her numerous awards, and she retired from NASA after over 30 years of dedicated service.
Skinny was preceded in death by her parents, Herman B. Linville, and Tina Bradley Linville; sisters, Dean Butler, and Jean Erbacher; brothers, Harold Linville, and Rayburn Linville; and son, Arnold Balentine.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Ernie Campbell; son, Keith Campbell; sister, Christine L. Hearn; and many nieces and nephews.
Skinny was known for her fiery red hair and vibrant personality. She loved life and was always fun to be with. Her husband, Ernie, showed unwavering devotion to her, lovingly and tirelessly caring for her during her illness. Their endless love for each other was a testament to their lifelong commitment.
Skinny will be missed tremendously by all who know her. She leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and countless cherished memories.
