Evelyn Janie McCool Lawson – Obituary

Evelyn Janie McCool Lawson went to be with her Savior Jesus Christ on May 21st after an extended illness. She will be reunited with her husband of 55 years, William Tolbert Lawson.

She was preceded by her parents, Joseph and Cora McCool, her beloved sisters, Polly Keith and Irma Methvin, and brothers Oather, Henry and Lee McCool.

She is survived by her children Martha Whitehead (Oscar) of Florence, Joe Lawson of Tuscaloosa, Nancy Lavender (Larry) of Garland, Texas, and Tammy Lawson Johnson of Rogersville. Grandchildren are Julie Damone (Russellville), Robert Lavender (Garland, TX), and Jimmy Ray Johnson III (Muscle Shoals). Great‑grandchildren are Kelsey Damone, Taylor Damone, and Kinsey Jefferys. A founding member of Chisholm Heights Baptist Church, she taught many Sunday school and Bible school classes.

Mother was happiest when surrounded by her family, tending her garden, cooking, and sharing the bounty from those gardens with her family and friends.

Services will be held Sunday May 24th at Greenview Memorial Chapel at 3pm with burial to follow at Mount Tabor. Public visitation will be 1:30 to 3:00pm.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Green Oaks Inn for the loving care given over the past seven years and also to Drs. Brown and Webb and the CCU staff at ECM Hospital.
