Evelyn Howard Bowers, age 90, Florence, Alabama departed this earth Wednesday evening, May 29, 2024. She was born July 1, 1933 in Montgomery County, Tennessee.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 1, 2024 – 10:30 am at Greenview Memorial Gardens, Florence, Alabama.
Evelyn was a member of Northwood United Methodist Church for 60 years. She was a much-loved wife, mother and “FE” to her grandchildren. Kind, patient, adaptable, curious and loving are some of her many strengths. She was interested in so many things, was an avid reader, talented seamstress, and expert family genealogist.
Evelyn is survived by her husband of 73 years, Daniel Bowers; children James Bowers, Martha Bowers (Greg Jones), Mary Bowers, Daniel (Alice) Bowers, and Lydia (Stan) Hopkins; grandchildren Jackie Bowers, Elizabeth (Lizzie) Jones, Hannah Hopkins (Cody Klein), Emily Bowers, and Joe Bowers; sister Minerva Cooper; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents Mary Louise Burney and James Meredith Howard; sisters Lillian Ruth Balthrop, and Mary Elizabeth Ledbetter; and grandparents Mattie Cooley Buck and Joseph Bryant Howard and Grace Rubel and John Robert Burney.
We will miss her greatly.
