On Monday afternoon, May 22, 2023, Evangeline Jordan Rodgers, 80, resident of Blue Mountain and loving wife, mother, sister, “Maw-Maw” and friend, passed away peacefully at Baptist Memorial Hospital in New Albany.

Funeral Services honoring the life of Mrs. Rodgers will be at 11 AM Thursday, May 25 at The Pentecostal Church of Blue Mountain with Bro. Caleb Smith and Bro. Stacey Starks officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Rodgers was born  October 19, 1942 in Union County, the daughter of the late Homer Jordan and the late Eva Neil Jordan Hill. She received her education of the Tippah/Union County Public School System and was married June 17, 1961,to the man who “loved her at first sight”, Robert Eugene Rodgers.

A member of The Pentecostal Church of Blue Mountain, Mrs. Rodgers was known as a loving, caring, devoted homemaker, everything a mother should be. A family oriented and loyal friend, she would always lend a listening ear while managing to keep very “close tabs” on everyone.  Mrs. Rodgers was known to be spontaneous, creative, skilled at gardening and a master cook, especially fried chicken, rice krispy treats and her famous chocolate “oaties”.

Mrs. Rodgers has left a lifetime of memories to be cherished by her family and friends.Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is now rejoicing in Heaven and knows that they will see her again. She will be missed,

Visitation will be from 5 PM to 8 PM Wednesday, May 24 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home and will continue from 10 AM to 11 AM Thursday, May 25 at The Pentecostal Church of Blue Mountain.

In addition to her husband of 61 years, Robert Eugene Rodgers, memories will continue to be shared by one daughter, Marlene Cissom (Steve) of Ripley, three sons, Nelson Rodgers (Sandra) of Blue Mountain, Kim Rodgers (Tonya) of Falkner and Jason Rodgers (Angie) of Ripley, two brothers, Robbie Jan Jordan (Deb) and Roger Jordan (Donna), eleven grandchildren, Alyssa Anderson, Josh Rodgers, Ashley Johnson, Amber Clark, Dalton and Nathan Cissom, Kayla Reno, Shaina Robinson, Landon Witt, Tyler and Bailey Clemmer, ten great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, son-in-law, Bobby Otts and her loyal canines,”Bo” and “Rosie”.

Mrs. Rodgers was also preceded in death by a daughter, Darlene Otts, a grandson, Derek Rodgers, two sisters and three brothers.
