Eva Mae “Granny Mae” Strickland, 93, of Tishomingo, Mississippi, died on Monday, August 5, 2024, at Tishomingo Community Living Center. Eva Mae was a lifelong member of Boggs Chapel Methodist Church and was the only remaining member of the congregation. She was a very kind and loving woman. She often sat with the elderly and babysat, and she loved making tea cakes for everyone. In her free time, she liked reading and doing crosswords. Eva Mae is survived by her nephew, Larry Strickland (Johnnie); her great-niece, Katie Bohannon (John); her great-nephew, Chad Strickland; her great-great-nieces and nephew, Klara-Kate, Hadley, Reagan, and Emmy Bohannon, Kirstyn Grady, and Breelyn Strickland; and a host of other cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Grady and Beunah Strickland; her brother, John B. Strickland; two sisters, Jewel Thorne and Ruth Dickinson; her nephew, Bobby Wayne Thorne; and her nieces, Opaline Crouse and Shirley Ann Thorne. Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka, MS, is entrusted with the arrangements. Visitation is scheduled from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka. Pallbearers include Larry Strickland, John Bohannon, Chad Strickland, Bo Kay, Kim Dawson, and James Gresham. Honorary pallbearers include H.O. Southward and Bryan Southward. Interment will be in Boggs Chapel Cemetery. Memorials may be made in Eva Mae’s honor to Boggs Chapel Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the wonderful staff of Gentiva Hospice, the Tishomingo Community Living Center, and the Southern Magnolia in Golden, for the excellent care and love they showed Eva Mae during her stays.
