Eva Charline Booth Cupples age 93, of Henderson, died Monday, June 26, 2023 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
She was born January 27, 1930 in McNairy, TN, daughter of the late Joseph Lawrence and Margie Cora Griffin Booth. She married R. E. Cupples on November 6th, 1948. They traveled alot their first few years as R. E. worked for the pipeline. They then settled in Arcadia Park in Dallas, TX until the death of her father in 1957. They then moved back to Henderson and made it their home. They ran a dry cleaners and a service station and she worked as a seamstress for Salant and Salant for several years until she quit to become a fulltime housewife and mom. She continued to babysit kids and her own grandkids and great grandkids until her late 70’s.
She was a devout Christian and was a Sunday School teacher at Old Friendship Baptist Church and R.E. led singing. They were married for 53 years when R.E. passed away on December 16, 2001.
She loved to sew and make clothing and spend time with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her three children, Tony Cupples (Shirley), Susan Martin (Lynn), Richard Cupples (Cheryl) all of Henderson; 10 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren; a sister Betty Jo Hester of Henderson; a first cousin Shelby Jean Mooney (Pat) of Bossier City, LA who was like a sister to her; and her dog, Tiny.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, June 29, 2023 at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Henderson’s East Main Chapel with Ken Frye officiating. Burial will follow in Old Friendship Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at East Main Chapel on Wednesday, June 28, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
