Mrs. Eunice Othorine Thompson Cox MRS. EUNICE OTHORINE THOMPSON COX, a life-long Huntsvillian, was the second child born to the late Otha James Thompson and Lillian Manning Thompson.  She was a graduate of William H. Councill High School, and attended Alabama A&M University. While she was a homemaker for a majority of her adult life, she found time to garden and restore antiques. Her kitchen always awaited a visitor with a hot meal or a delectable dessert. When you were in her home, you were “home.”

“Eunice/Othorine/Rene/Rene-Rene” was preceded in death by her first husband (Benjamin M. Saunders); one sister (Eliza T. Colley); and two brothers: (James E. Thompson, Sr. and Carl E. Thompson, Sr.). She is survived by her husband, James H. Cox; two daughters: Lisa (Jerome) Roberts of Harvest, AL and Carol Saunders of Huntsville, AL; one son, Harold (Lekitha) Saunders of Toney, AL; and step-son Adrian (Bria) Cox; three grandchildren: Patrick Saunders, TiYanna Saunders, and Zion Johnson; one sister, Dorothy (Andrew) Fuller; nephews and nieces: Robert (Courtney) Colley, III, Andrien “Andy” (Cynarra) Fuller, Carl Thompson, Jr., Deborah Colley, Felicia Colley, and Rebecca (Lisa) Thompson-Cailouet; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Memorial service will be 11:30 a.m., Thursday, August 8, 2024 at the Royal Chapel of Memories (4315 Oakwood Avenue NW Huntsville, AL 35810).

The family will greet guests from 11:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., Thursday, August 8, 2024 at the Royal Chapel of Memories.

There will be no public viewing.
