Eugene Richard Andrzejewski (Gene), 87, born in Buffalo, New York died peacefully on June 21, 2023. After graduating high school, Gene joined the Marines where he was a Helicopter Air Rescue Specialist. After his time in the Marines, Gene made his way south to the University of Alabama and graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration. It was at the University that he met Martha Pugh who later became his wife. He and Martha moved to Huntsville where they lived and raised their three daughters. They celebrated 60 years of marriage in January. It was also at the University where Gene became a lifelong fan of the Crimson Tide.
Gene worked in Contract Management at Teledyne Brown Engineering for thirty-seven years, and taught night classes in his field at UAH and surrounding colleges. He was a lifetime member of NCMA, an organization dedicated to enriching the contract profession. Gene held many local as well as national offices for NCMA. He was an active member of the Rotary Club and served on the board of directors for Teledyne Solutions Inc.
A passionate volunteer, Gene was always serving his church and the local community. A member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church for over fifty years, Gene was very active as a member there as well as in the Knights of Columbus. Gene served many local organizations with his time over the years. The Huntsville Botanical Gardens was a favorite of Gene’s, and he especially enjoyed being one of the “Galaxy Guys” who put up the spectacular Christmas lights displays every year.
Gene would say his biggest accomplishment was being a Dad, Grand Dad and Great Grand Dad. He enjoyed the many trips he was able to take with his family.
He was preceded in death by siblings, Rita Wasikowski, Stephen Jr. Andrzejewski (Kaye), Casimer Andrzejewski (Maria), Geraldine Wiecek (Louis), Theresa Wallace (Willard), and Florian Andrzejewski (survived by Dorothy).
