Eugene “Gene” Manley – Obituary

Mr. Eugene “Gene” Manley passed away Monday morning at Regional Hospital of Jackson, TN.

A native of Cherokee, AL, he was the son of the late Calvin Oscar and Sally B. Williams Manley. He worked as a farmer and for Troxel Corporation near Moscow, TN for 16 years. A hard worker his entire life, he spent his later years as an automotive mechanic. Mr. Manley grew up in the Moscow-LaGrange area of Fayette County and resided near Grand Junction for the last 40 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed quail hunting, fishing, gardening and as a young man, spent much time trapping on the Wolf River.

He was the widower of Diane Jamerson Manley who passed away July 14, 2006. He is survived by 3 sons, Steve Gene (Terry) Manley of Saulsbury, TN, Phillip Waco (Sherry) Manley of Bolivar and Paul Jeffrey Manley of Grand Junction; 3 daughters, JoAnn (Herschell) Smith of Live Oak, FL, Lorrie (Richard Davis) Stamey of Memphis and Jackie (Timmy) Morrow of Moscow; a sister, Anne Manley of Selmer; a brother, James (Mildred) Manley of Selmer; 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Joan Welch; and four brothers, Robert, Joe and Fred Manley and an infant brother who died at birth.

Memorials should be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
