Eugene Coleman was born on April 25, 1948 in Pulaski, TN to the late Nellie Jean Coleman and Cleve Harney. Eugene was raised by his beloved grandparents, John Wesley and Addie Will Coleman. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Martha M. Peden, Maggie Otey, Esterlene White, Sarah Hayes, Lucy King, and his brother, John S. Coleman. He accepted Christ into his life at an early age. Eugene later joined Taylor Street Church of Christ, where he was a loyal, dedicated member. Eugene attended school in Giles County. Eugene was employed by the State of Tennessee Dept. of Transportation, where he retired after 31 years of service. Eugene met no strangers, he would offer help to anyone in need. Eugene married the love of his life Carrie Pipkins and they celebrated 20 years of matrimony. Carrie and Eugene were foster parents for 10 years. Eugene and Carrie adopted their precious daughter Victoria, whom he treasured, and his step-daughter Sandra (Kevin) Miles and 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren. Cherishing his memory: his brothers James Coleman, Indianapolis, IN, Grady Coleman, Pulaski, Tn, Brady Coleman, Abbeville, LA, sisters, Helen Hayes, Pulaski, TN, Flossie Grigsby, Elkmont, AL, mother-in-law, Myra Pipkins, sister-in-law’s, Mattie (James) Howard, Lillian (Michael) Howard, Lorrine Pipkins, Elise Pipkins all of Pulaski, TN, Brenda (Jeff) Black of Lewisburg, TN, and Lucile Bentley of Junction City, Kansas. Brother-in-laws Johnnie Pipkins, David Pipkins, of Pulaski, and Clifford (Stacy) Pipkins of Nashville, TN. A host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends also survive. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 6th, 2019 from 11:00am until 12:00pm with a funeral service following at 12:00pm in the Chapel of Bennett-May & Pierce Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. Bennett-May & Pierce Funeral Home and Crematory in charge of arrangements for Eugene Coleman.
