Ethelwynne Asbury Penwell Profile Photo In loving memory of Ethelwynne Asbury Penwell, a woman whose grace and dedication touched the hearts of all those around her. Ethelwynne, born on September 3, 1937, to the late Joseph Jennings Asbury, Sr. and Ethelwynne Eaton Asbury, embraced life with unwavering strength and a gentle spirit. She departed from this world on April 13, 2024, in Jackson, TN, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be cherished.

Ethelwynne’s journey through life was marked by perseverance and a deep commitment to her work. With a Bachelor’s degree under her belt from Sullens Methodist College, she dedicated herself to a career that extended well beyond conventional retirement age. As an administrative assistant for an eye clinic, she exemplified professionalism and diligence in all that she undertook.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Ethelwynne found solace and joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid gardener, finding peace among the vibrant blooms and lush greenery that adorned her garden. Despite the challenges brought on by dementia, she retained her humor and resilience, finding lightness even in difficult moments by whimsically attributing new bruises to her time spent tending to her beloved garden.

Her proudest accomplishment was not found in accolades or titles but in the love and bonds she nurtured within her family. Her unwavering devotion to her loved ones was evident in every aspect of her life. To Ethelwynne, family was not simply a priority but the very essence of her being.

Ethelwynne and her husband, Harvey, were members of Aldersgate Methodist Church.  They attended Aldersgate for several years until her health declined and left her unable to attend.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of sixty years, Harvey Eugene Penwell, Sr.; children, Harvey Eugene Penwell, Jr., Lee Jennings Penwell, and Wynne Tubbs (Shawn); grandchildren, Kelsey Tubbs, Caleb Tubbs, and Noah Tubbs; great-grandchild, Harper Tubbs; and one great-grandchild on the way.

Aside from her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings Joseph Jennings Asbury, Jr. and Mary Elizabeth Asbury.

In the hearts of those who survive Ethelwynne Asbury Penwell – her memory will live on eternally. She is remembered with profound love by her grieving family and friends. While we mourn the loss of such a remarkable soul, we also celebrate the beauty of Ethelwynne’s life and legacy.

May her soul find eternal peace as she walks among fields of everlasting blossoms in a place, where memories bloom forevermore.
