Ethel Kyle Underwood, age 84 of Winchester, passed away on April 15, 2023, peacefully at her home surrounded by her family. Ethel was born on May 22, 1938, in Asheville, North Carolina, to the late Marvin Olan and Lillie (Gasperson) Kyle Sr. She was a dedicated homemaker whose hobbies included cooking, baking, and gardening. Ethel was much more than an immaculate housekeeper. She beautifully designed and decorated both the interior of their home and their terraced flower gardens, decks, and Koi pond in the yard of their home. She loved spending time on their deck feeding her Koi fish and watching the North Carolina Tarheels and Pat Summit’s Lady Vols play basketball. Ethel will be remembered for her sweet nature, passion for her community work, and as a loving mother, wife, friend, and breast cancer survivor. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Marvin Kyle Jr. She is survived by her loving husband of sixty-two years, Eddie Underwood; sons, Chuck Underwood of Hixson, Steve (Launa) Underwood of Winchester Springs; grandson, Kyle Underwood of Hixson; sister, Edith Wilson of Henderson, North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Saturday, April 22, 2023, from 11am-1pm at the Moore-Cortner Funeral Home Chapel. The Funeral Service will follow at 1pm Saturday in the Moore-Cortner Funeral Home Chapel.
