Esther Mae Gateley

Age 92 of Cottontown went home to be with the Lord Sunday, November 13, 2022 at The Residence of Alive Hospice. She was born March 20, 1930 in Springfield, MO to James Thomas & Ada Alta Ready Emerson. She was retired from Osborne Hessey where she worked in customer service. She attended Immanuel Baptist Church. Mrs. Gateley enjoyed fishing, camping, attending church and listening to country and gospel music. She had taught countless people to swim in her lifetime and had served as a girl scout leader, as well as a cub scout den leader. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, James “Jimmy” Gateley; brother, David Emerson; sister, Ruth Skidmore; great-grandchild, Elan McCaslind. She is survived by her son, Robert Gateley, Cottontown, TN; daughter, Teresa (David) Corlew, Gallatin, TN; brother-in-law, Harold Skidmore, Ft. Worth, TX; sister-in-law, Pat Emerson, Omaha, NE; 5 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren. A memorial service is being planned at a later date.
