Ernestine “Ann” Franziska Stubbs was a native of Germany, born in Wuerzburg (Würzburg) on December 28, 1931. She attended local schools and worked in Wuerzburg, where she met and married Sergeant Derrell E. Stubbs, U.S Army, who was stationed there. They moved to numerous military assignments throughout Europe, and later in the USA. Upon Sgt. Stubbs’ retirement from the Army in 1973, they settled in Huntsville, Alabama.
Unfortunately and unexpectedly, just one year later, she lost her husband. However, over the years, Ann surrounded herself with a network of friends, primarily through her membership in Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church on Redstone Arsenal. Ann was a devout Catholic, who practiced her faith daily. As of late, she also attended Mass at Holy Spirt Catholic Church in Huntsville with friends. Ann enjoyed many church social activities and made many friendships. In addition, she adhered to her German heritage and culture, especially during the Christmas season by baking and sharing her favorite cookies and cakes, delighting both German and non-German friends alike.
Survivors include relatives on her husband’s side – Donnie and Jane Stubbs of Glenville, GA, and extended family in her native Wuerzburg – the Koeberlein (Köberlein) Family.
