Ernest Wayne Garrison age 82 of Albertville passed away Tuesday, June 18th.
He was born November 7th, 1941 in Nixon Chapel, AL. He was the oldest child of Ernest and Dovie Garrison.
He met his future wife in the Nixon Chapel community. They were married on June 23, 1964. After marriage they lived in Fort Rucker while he finished his commitment to the Army. After completing his service, he moved to Albertville where he worked for MUB. He retired after 32 years of service of head mechanic.
He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He was always in his garden in the spring and fall. He was known in the community for his large amounts of produce which he shared willingly with his neighbors and friends. He was a teacher / mentor to so many people through the years with his various trades from mechanic work to welding/fabrication to electrical to carpentry to sewing/upholstery. He was a true neighbor and friend. He was always willing to help his family, friends, and neighbors with anything. He was known in the community as a great man of temperance, patience, and compassion. His love for his neighbor spawned from his acceptance of Christ as a young man.
He was always involved with his children, grandchildren, and young people in the community. He spent his time at football games, baseball games, swim meets, and fishing tournaments. He shared his love and passion of the outdoors with many young men and women. He was always willing to teach hunting and fishing skills with a bonus of a life lesson.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Dovie Garrison and his daughter Vicki Garrison. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Linda Garrison, sons, Chris and Wes (Jennifer), grandchildren Baylee Dollar (Michael), Louis Garrison, Emma Garrison and Ragan (Austin) Shirley. He is also survived by his siblings Joan (Edward) Moore and Ronnie (Marcella) Garrison along with several nieces and nephews and great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at Adams Brown Service Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1:00 pm. Burial to follow at Fairview Baptist Church Cemetery in the Nixon Chapel Community.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Shepherd’s Cove Hospice.
