Ernest Stockard, age 92, passed away in Peoria, Illinois on November 24, 2023. He was a long time resident of Peoria, Illinois. Ernest was born January 17, 1931, to the late Eunice and Mary Stockard in Lawrenceburg TN.
He went into the US Army in 1952. He served two years active duty and 8 years in the reserves. He worked for Caterpillar in Peoria for 42 years, retiring July 1, 1992. He also worked to build houses during that time.
Ernest is survived by his wife, Venita Skinner Stockard, to whom he was married to for almost 69 years. He also has one living sister, Anna Bell Remke of Lawrenceburg TN. Ernest is also survived by several sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
Ernest is preceded in death by his daughter, Wanda Kay Stockard. He was also preceded in death by six brothers, James, Duel, Leon, Hershel, Ken and Virgil Stockard and two sisters, Marie Klepac and Nelva Reed.
The family would also like to thank Donna Williams of Peoria Illinois for being Ernest and Venita’s friend, neighbor and guardian angel, especially over the last few years.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 2:00 PM Tuesday, December 5, 2023, with Tee Jackson officiating. Interment will follow at Lawrence County Memorial Gardens in Lawrenceburg, TN.
