Ernest S. Beattie Jr., age 84, of Trussville, AL, passed away on January 28, 2024. Ernest was preceded in death by his sister, Ann Beattie Deemer; and his parents, Ernest Sloss Beattie, Sr., and Christine White Beattie. Mr. Beattie was an avid Auburn football fan.
Ernest is survived by his wife, Gerry Veazey Beattie; stepdaughter Jane Sulser (Keith); sister Alice Tiller (Eddie); and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Ernest was born in Limestone County, AL. He attended Athens High School from 1953-1955 and graduated from Baylor High School in Chattanooga, TN in 1957. He studied civil engineering while attending Auburn University when it was known as API. Ernest graduated from Athens State College with a BA in Art in 1963 and with a BS in Information Technology in 1992. He was the Founder, President, and CEO of Beatties, Inc. in Athens, AL, from 1972-1984. At the time of his retirement in 2006, he was Assistant Vice President – Lead Senior Program Analyst at Compass Bank in Birmingham, AL.
Graveside services will be on Friday, February 2, 2024, at 2 PM at Jefferson Memorial Gardens East, in Ten Commandments, 1591 Gadsden Hwy, Birmingham, AL 35235.
