Ernest Roberts Berry Jr., affectionately known as Bobby to friends and Opa to his grandchildren, passed away on March 19, 2025, at the age of 60 in Double Springs, Alabama. Born on June 28, 1964, in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, Bobby’s life was marked by his devotion to family, especially his two grandchildren, community, and a thriving career in the broadcast industry. Bobby married the love of his life, Mary Ann Stennis, August 17, 1989. Bobby was blessed with one child, Brandon.
Bobby graduated from Starkville High School in 1982 and pursued higher education at Mississippi State University, earning his degree in 1985. His career began in radio, where he worked for two years before joining WCBI-TV in Columbus, Mississippi, in 1987. With a strong work ethic and a keen understanding of the media landscape, Bobby ascended the sales ranks to become General Sales Manager in 1999 and later General Manager in 2006. His leadership and vision were recognized when he was appointed COO of Morris Network, Inc., in 2014. Under his guidance, the broadcast division expanded significantly, with Bobby championing innovative initiatives and a local, customer-focused approach.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Bobby was a man of faith and community. During his time in West Point, Mississippi, he served as a Deacon at First Baptist Church and volunteered at the Prairie Arts and Market Street Festival. Known for his gentle nature and vibrant smile, Bobby was a beloved figure to many. Bobby enjoyed many things in his life but being surrounded by his family, friends, and the lake were on the top of his list.
Bobby is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Stennis Berry, son, Brandon (Casey) Berry, and two grandchildren, Meredith and Greer. He is also survived by his mother, Cindy “Oma” Berry; sister, Janet (Paul) Lomen; brothers, Kenny (Rebekah) Berry and Joey (Anne) Berry; mother-in-law, Mary “Mimi” Stennis; brother-in-law, Alex (Jamie) Stennis; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest “Opa” Roberts Berry and father-in-law, Earl “Doc” Alexander Stennis.
A celebration of life to honor Bobby will be held on Friday, March 28th, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville, Mississippi. A private burial service will be held following the memorial service.

Bobby’s legacy will be remembered through his contributions to the broadcasting industry, his unwavering community service, and the love he shared with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
