Ernest Lawson – Obituary

March 11, 2018 Funeral services for Ernest Lawson will be conducted Wednesday, March 14, 2018, 1:00 p.m. Central Time at the Farley Church of Christ, in Huntsville, Alabama with Carl Seigenthaler officiating. Burial will follow in Lipscomb Cemetery, Lacey’s Spring, Alabama. Mr. Lawson passed from this life on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at the Floyd E. “Tut” Fann Veterans Home. He was 90.

Mr. Lawson was born in Whiteside, Tennessee. Served in the U. S. Marine Corps at the end of World War II as part of the occupation force in China. He was a retired farmer and from the Tennessee Valley Authority, Colbert Steam Plant, Tuscumbia, Alabama.

He was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ, serving as an elder at the New Hope Church of Christ in Florence, AL and the Farley Church of Christ.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Rose Holt Lawson, son Philip, of Huntsville, and daughter Janet Lawson (Clark) Anderson of Huntsville; grandchildren: Reed (Laura Beth) Anderson, and Rebecca Anderson; brothers Amos Lawson and Clifford Lawson, sister, Dorothy Lawson Higdon; several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Lawson was preceded in death by his parents George Lawson and Mary Bell Fisher Lawson and several siblings.

Visitation with the family will be just prior to the funeral service on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at the Farley Church of Christ.

Pallbearers will be Reed Anderson, Rebecca Anderson, Lawrence Smith, Kenneth Austin, Sean Goff, and Lindell Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Greg Grisby, John Sandy, and Hal Gargis.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Farley Church of Christ building fund.
