Mr. Ernest Eugene Kirby Ernest Eugene (Gene) Kirby, born December 12, 1932, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on December 23, 2024. A devoted husband, father, and friend, Gene lived a life marked by service, dedication, and love. He loved the Lord and was organist at Randall’s Chapel for many years. Music was his passion.

Gene proudly served his country as a member of the National Guard and served in Korea as part of the 151st Engineer’s Combat Battalion. He later built a long and fulfilling career, retiring from the Coca-Cola Company in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, John O. Kirby and Emmie Knight Kirby, as well as his siblings: brothers Lester, Loyal, Kenneth, and Earl, and sister Ruby Daniel.

He is survived by his loving wife, Louise, and his son, Jerry Eugene Kirby (Mike Harris), who carry forward his legacy of love and kindness.

Visitation will be Saturday, December 28, 2024 from 11:00-1:00 at Scottsboro Funeral Home followed by graveside service at 1:30pm at Pinehaven Memorial Gardens, where Gene will be laid to rest. Rev. Jody Gamble will conduct the services.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to a charity of your choice in Gene’s memory.

Gene was a kind and gentle spirit with a delightful sense of humor. His life of service and generosity will forever be remembered by those who knew and loved him.
