Ernest Beatty Moore, 83, passed away on Monday, April 15, 2024, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born November 22, 1940, in Morgan City, Mississippi, to Walter Andrew Moore and Laura “Tiny” Clark Moore. After graduating from Leflore County High School in Itta Bena in 1958, he enrolled at Mississippi State University as an engineering major. After taking time off to help get in the crop at the farm back home, he graduated in 1963. His first engineering job was with Delta Metal Forming in Greenville, where rose to become plant manager. He was a mechanical engineer for Super Sagless in Tupelo, Ripley Industries in Collierville, TN, before retiring from Day-Brite Lighting in 2008. He attended Itawamba Christian Church. After retirement, he was active Habitat for Humanity in Itawamba County. When not working, he enjoyed woodworking and traveling.
Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 19, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. Tony Thornton officiating. Grave-Side services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 21, at Itta Bena Cemetery in Itta Bena, MS.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Mary Guy Moore of Peppertown; one son, William Moore (Kathy Bailey) of Tupelo; one daughter, Linda Marie Pennington (Tom) of Nesbit; one sister, Polly Strain of Greenwood; one grandson, Clark Pennington (Courtnee) of Southaven.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter Moore, Jr., and Gaines Moore; two sisters, Elizabeth Robertson and Nallie Strain Johnson; and his parents.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Fulton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Itawamba Christian Church, Crossroads Ranch, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
