Erma L. Owens Donald

A Service of Love and Remembrance for Mrs. Erma L. Owens Donald, 84 of Moulton, Alabama will be 1:00 pm Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at Freeman Tabernacle Baptist Church with the Reverend Timothy Perryman officiating. Inhumation will follow in Moulton Memory Gardens. Public viewing will be Monday from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Reynolds Funeral Home.  Mrs. Donald transitioned on November 15, 2023 at NHC in Moulton.

On May 24, 1939, Erma Loratha Owens Donald was the 11th child born to the late Archie and Jessie Hubbard Owens in Moulton, Alabama.  She departed this life on November 15, 2023, at the NHC Healthcare in Moulton, Alabama.

Erma was baptized at an early age at Freeman Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church (FTMBC).  She relocated to Decatur, Alabama and united with Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church where she was active in the choir and served on the Mothers Board.  Later in life she returned to FTMBC her home church and was a faithful member until her health failed in July 2023.  She was a member of the Mothers Board.

She graduated from Rosenwald High School in Moulton, AL. Upon graduating from high school, she earned a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s degree, both from Alabama State University in Montgomery, Alabama.  She taught at Central High School in Courtland, Alabama, and Moulton Intermediate School in Moulton, Alabama. Upon retiring from the school system, she became a licensed beautician and ran a women’s clothing store.

Erma was united in holy matrimony to Jim Andy Donald on June 9, 1991, and they were married for 24 years.

Erma enjoyed baking and gardening.

Erma was preceded in death by her parents; husband; six brothers; Curtis Owens, James Washington Owens, Nathaniel Owens, Hubbert Owens, Levert Owens, and Oliver Owens; and three sisters; Orean Owens, Eliza Mae Owens Crittenden, and Carnell Owens Johnson.

She is survived by a brother, Blanton Owens (Wilma Ruth) of Mequon, Wisconsin.  She is also survived by four generations of nieces, and nephews and many cousins and friends.
