Erik Blake Thornton
July 27, 1990 – September 29, 2023
Giles County native, Erik Blake Thornton passed away peacefully on September 29th at St. Thomas Hospital West. His mother Lisa Joy Morgan and sister Leila Mashburn Keel were by his side.
He is preceded in death by his father, Shawn Howard Thornton.
Survivors are his son, Austin Shawn Thornton, newly engaged fiancé Sydney Beard. Mother Lisa J Morgan, sister, Leila Mashburn Keel, (John) brother Brett Thornton (Jamie) and sister Sara Brooke Thornton. 2 uncles, Robert (Lisa) Morgan, Jerry (Trisha) Morgan. Cousins Jonathan (Morgan) Morgan, Christopher (Jackie)Morgan., Milayna and Ethan Morgan and Stevie Nichole Owen’s. Many nieces and nephews and so many that thought of him as family. He enjoyed more than anything, time with his son and with Sydney. An embarrassing passion for UT football. He was very much loved and leaves a huge empty spot in all of our lives.
A private memorial service will be held with Chris Morgan and Leila Mashburn Keel officiating.
Erik’s memorial is closed to the public and by invitation only.
