Eric James Cain, Sr., 70, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at Piedmont Rockdale Hospital.
Family will be receiving friends at Kilgore-Green Funeral Home, on Saturday, March 2, 2024, from 12:30 until 1:30 p.m. Private family burial will follow.
Eric was born and raised in Jasper and graduated from Walker High School in 1971. He attended Jacksonville State University, where he graduated with a Bachelors of Music Education. Eric was member of Phi Mu Alpha music fraternity. He held many jobs focused on music including Minister of Music at Chapel Woods Presbyterian Church in Decatur, Music teacher in Jasper, AL and Shreveport, LA. He loved playing the guitar and singing, enjoyed spending as much time with his granddaughters as he could. Eric was always quick with a corny joke and never met a stranger; and anyone who knew him would attest to his hearty laugh. He attended Crosspointe Church in Oxford, GA and was always telling everyone about Jesus. Eric had a genuine love of people. His friends and family will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, R.C. and Montae J. Cain; grandparents, P.N. and Blanche James; and C.R. and Velvie Cain.
He is survived by his children, Lauren Lingerfelt (Joshua) of Monroe, GA and Eric J. Cain, Jr. (Brittney) of Arvada, CO; granddaughters, Libby Lingerfelt, Maggie Lingerfelt, and Lucy Lingerfelt; brother, Dr. David S. Cain, Sr. (Linda) of Jasper; nephews, David S. Cain, Jr. (Stephanie) of Mobile and Christopher W. Cain (Angelina) of Marietta, GA; niece, Sara Megan Hall (Daniel) of Birmingham; great nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
