Enoch Eugene “Gene” Amerson, 85, of Burnsville, Mississippi, died on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, in his home. Gene was an active member of New Lebanon Free Will Baptist Church and loved being able to attend. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a Shriner, and a 50-year member of the Burnsville Lodge #233 F. & A.M. He retired from the Kansas City Southern Railroad after over 30 years of service. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing, watching Nascar Races, and working in his yard. Gene is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Judith Amerson; his sons, Dion (Kim) and Shane Amerson; his grandchildren, Dylan (McKenna), Jeremy (Zoei), Hunter, Seth, and Emily Amerson; his great-grandson, Dustin Amerson; and his great-granddaughter that is arriving this November, Elliana Alexis Amerson. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Michelle Amerson; his parents, Esther and Vester Amerson; his sisters, Chesteen Amerson and Quay Hall; and his brother-in-law, Elwood Hall. Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka, MS, is entrusted with the arrangements. Visitation is scheduled from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 16, 2023, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Glen. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 16, 2023, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Glen, officiated by Bro. Jack Whitley. Pallbearers include Johnny Lambert, Charles Johnson, Mike Broadway, Randy Johnson, Henry Butler, and Skipper Brisentine. Honorary pallbearers include Gerald Glidewell and Barry Coker.
