Emmett Leroy Martz, Jr. died at his residence at Brookdale on December 12th, 2015 at 85 years of age. He served in the US Army, followed by a p r o f e s s i o n a l civilian career spanning over 40 years as an engineer and physicist at NASA, the U.S. Army’s Ballistic Missile Defense Division, and ELMCO, Inc.
Emmett was faithful to the Lord and a devoted member of the Southern Baptist Association. He served as teacher and deacon at Whitesburg Baptist Church and also continued his teaching at Willowbrook Baptist Church. He enjoyed reading, upland game hunting, and playing golf with his sons, grandsons and friends. His parents, Emmett and Gladys Lowery Martz, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife Lillian Jones Martz; sons Emmett L. Martz III (Laura) of Cleveland TN and James Garrett Martz (Julie); daughter, Dianna White (Timothy); sister, Patsy Eversole (Joseph) of Shelbyville IL; grandchildren, Austin Martz, Anna Martz, Keith White, Tyler White; Blake Martz, Katelyn Martz, Matthew Martz, and Hannah Martz; several nieces and nephews.
Mark Smith will lead a private family service at Berryhill Funeral Home Chapel.
