Lt. Colonel Emmett Alexander Kimbrough III, “Alex,” 71, passed peacefully Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at North Mississippi Medical Center after battling cancer. Alex’s loving wife was by his side in his last moments.
He was preceded in death by his parents Emmett Alexander Kimbrough Jr. “Pops/Poppy” and Kathryn Peer Kimbrough, “Nana,” his grandparents Emmett Alexander Kimbrough Sr. “Pop K” and his wife Nan Augusta Trusdel Kimbrough, “Nanny,” Earl Edwin Peer, “Dandy” and his wife Sula Dalrymple Peer, “Bubba,” his wonderful Mother-in-law Jean S. Miller, “Gram” and his talented brother-in-law George F. Miller.
Alex is survived by his faithful wife, Norma Miller Kimbrough, his two incredible daughters, Rebecca Kimbrough and Amanda Adams, and his phenomenal grandchildren, Lana Caitlin Adams (Amanda) and Jayden Kimbrough (Rebecca), as well as his loving sister-in-law, Michele H. Miller (George).
Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at 1 p.m., followed by the Celebration of Life service at 2 p.m. in Welch Funeral Home Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in Alex’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Pinelake Church Building Fund.
