Mrs. Emma Louise Hughes Mrs. Emma Louise Hughes, of Arab, Alabama, passed away at her residence on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at the age of 95.
Mrs. Hughes was born on March 28, 1927 to Lemuel Eugene Pollock and Beulah Mae Lowery in Jackson Mississippi.
Emma was surrounded by family as she peacefully slipped away. Her family and friends are heartbroken to lose her. Mrs. Hughes married the love of her life, George William Hughes, who passed in 2018. She and her family moved to Arab over 33 years ago. Immediate and extended family members cherish their memories of holiday events and family gatherings. Mrs. Hughes really enjoyed Christmas time because she got to be around all the family. The family shares memories of family trips across country to tourist attractions. Emma was a woman of faith and was a member of Arab First Baptist Church. She was very artistic and enjoyed activities such as ceramics, craft shows and knitting. She enjoyed outings and going shopping. She was an avid Alabama fan. No words can be expressed how much she will be missed.
Mrs. Hughes is survived by her son, Ed Hughes (Cheryl); daughters, Sandra Alexander (Glen), Teresa A. Hughes; brothers, Billy Ray Pollock and George Edward Pollock (Annie); grandchildren, Sarah Ann Kritner (Justin), Cody Brock Hughes (Emily), and Dylan Hunter Hughes (Vanessa); and great-grandchildren, Luke David Kritner, Amelia Jane Kritner, Caroline Paige Hughes, and Rueben Hunter Hughes.
Preceding Emma in death along with her parents, Lemuel Pollock and Beulah Lowery are her husband, George W. Hughes; and two brothers, Gene Pollock and Irvin “Bo” Lowery Pollock.
