Emma Lou Hargrave, 89, passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at Limestone Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Athens, Alabama. She was born Wednesday, June 13, 1934 to John Alton Whitt and Jewell Ferguson Whitt Carper in Fayetteville, Tennessee.
Ms. Hargrave loved Tennessee football, playing the piano and organ, Southern Gospel music, playing Rook, entertaining and travel.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 63 years, Gayland Hargrave; and brother, Tommy Whitt.
She is survived by her daughter, Terry (Rick) Shannon of Ardmore, Tennessee; son, Michael (Verona) Hargrave of Toney, Alabama; grandchildren, Adam (Dru) Shannon and Zachary Atchley; great grandchild, Emma Kate Shannon; and niece, Sindy Whitt Ingram of Huntsville, Alabama.
Visitation will be Friday, September 29, 2023 at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama from 1:00 PM – 1:45 PM followed by a Graveside Service at Gatlin Cemetery, Ardmore, Alabama at 2:00 PM with Bro. Alan Hughes officiating.
In Lieu of Flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Limestone County or Playing for Preemies.
