Funeral for Emma Jean Austin Garth, 68, of Hillsboro will be Friday, September 20, 2013, at 1 p.m. at First Missionary Baptist Church in Courtland with Jackson Memory Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Town Creek. Public viewing will be today from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. followed by a visitation for just family from 5 to 6 p.m. then the general public from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Ms. Garth died Saturday, September 14, 2013, at her home surrounded by family and friends.
Jean graduated from Tennessee Valley High School in Hillsboro and attended Alabama A&M University. Her work experiences include, Decatur General Hospital, Big K Department Store, Lawrence County Tax Assessors Office and The Lawrence County Probate Judges office. She retired from her position at that office in October 2009.
