Funeral service for Emma Frances Monks Gibson, age 88, of Fayetteville, TN, will be held at 1 PM on Monday, December 5, 2022, at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 5 PM until 8 PM on Sunday at Higgins Funeral Home.
Frances was born on February 23, 1934, in Lincoln County, TN, to the late John William Monks, Sr., and Vessie Jeffries Monks. Mrs. Gibson attended MTSU and was a member of the Fayetteville Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She married Carman H. Gibson on November 7, 1954. Frances enjoyed cooking for family and friends, for church gatherings, decorating for the holidays, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed spring flowers, fresh peaches, and all fireworks displays. Mrs. Gibson passed away November 29, 2022, at Lincoln Manor in Fayetteville.
Survivors include her children, Cindy (Billy) Langford of Flintville, Lisa Gibson of Decatur, GA, and Chris (Amy) Gibson of Fayetteville; grandchildren, Zachary (Ashley) Langford, Jordon (Elizabeth) Langford, Luke McConihay, Ben Gibson, Jake Gibson, and Abe Gibson; brother, Maurice Monks; sister-in-law, Patsy Towry Monks; brother- in-law William Coleman (Maryland) Gibson and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Carman Gibson; brothers, John William Monks, and L. Paul Monks; sisters, Mildred Holt, and Vera Stewart; and foster brother, Earl Gray.
The Family is deeply grateful to all her caregivers at home and at Lincoln Manor.
