Emma Clarice Rankhorn, age 96 of Tullahoma passed away on Friday, March 19, 2021 at NHC in Tullahoma. She was born on May 25, 1924 in Elora to the late, James J. and Mary Jane Evans White. She was a wonderful cook and her specialty was chicken and dumplings and chess pie. She had a way about the kitchen that made others wonder if she had a magic wand because she could whip up a full meal in 30 minutes and always made sure that you left with something too. She was an avid quilter and member of the senior citizens quilting club. She also loved to spend time in her garden tending to her beautiful iris’ and tomatoes that were the best tasting in town. She was also a great family story teller, and would entertain the family for hours with stories of the past. Emma was loving, energetic, and the best mom that her two children could ask for. She would always put herself last on the list just to make sure everyone else was taken care of. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Aubrey L. Rankhorn; and siblings, Terrell White, Vergie Anderson. She is survived by her children, Rita (Eldon) Russell, Rodger (Vicki) Rankhorn both of Tullahoma; grandchildren, Jeff (Kristan) Slade of Wisconsin, Kris (Sherrie) Slade of Manchester, Allyson Vasser of Winchester, Jennifer Russell of Tullahoma, Bethany (Chad) Nowlin of Covington, GA; 15 great-grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; sister, Doris Robertson of Tullahoma; and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. Monday, March 22, 2021, with the Funeral service following at 12:00 P.M. in the chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Rev. Carl Tucker officiating.
