Emilee Ellen Leathers

Emilee Ellen Leathers, 81, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2024, as a result of an automobile accident. She was born July 4, 1943 at the old Gilmore Hospital in Amory, Mississippi to the late Copeland Clifton and the late Mary Ellen Brook Clifton. She grew up in Waukegan, near Chicago, Illinois and met her husband, Wendell in high school. She graduated Zion-Benton Township High School in 1960. Between the ages of 9 and 16, she studied the violin in the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for many years. Emilee and her husband Wendell’s two sons were their greatest joy. The trips they took as a young family and their experiences in life gave them many precious memories.
From the age of 5, Emilee attended a Methodist Church becoming a member of the United Methodist Church at the age of 11, and transferring to Fulton United Methodist Church in 1985. Her hobbies included knitting, crochet, basket weaving, sewing, the NFL, the NCAA and beekeeping, the last of which she learned from her father. She loved her cats who lived with her family over the years. She worked as a microbiology lab technician at Abbott Labs, a medical transcriber, and an investment office assistant.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Wednesday July 31, 2024, at Senter Funeral Home with Rev. Smith Lillie officiating. Burial will be in Itawamba Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm on Wednesday July 31, at Senter Funeral Home. For those unable to attend, the service will be live streamed at www.facebook.com/senterfuneraldirectors.

She is survived by her sons, Mark Daniel (Carol Lynn) Leathers of Justin, TX, and Gary Wayne (Marsha) Leathers of Fulton, as well as 3 step-granddaughters, April (Mike) Pickle, Misty (John) Harris, and Connie Harris; as well as step-granddaughter, Memree Martin and 2 step-grandsons, Zacharia (Zakk) Harris and Josh Harris, all in the Dallas, TX area, step great grandchildren, Kaylen (Kirk) Roberts, Jacob (Callie) Pickle, Hayden Harris, Kay Leigh Harris, John Kyle Harris, Kentleigh Harris, Will Murff, Braxton Harris, and Zaylie Harris, Zayden Harris, Corey Harris, and Adelene Harris; and step great-great-grandchildren, Kade Roberts and Kenleigh Brook (KB) Roberts. She is also survived by a sister Sharon Clifton Todd of Lakeland, FL, and her beloved cat Kazzie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, who died in 1991, her father and mother, her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Vona Marie and Elbert Leathers, and an infant brother, John Milton Clifton along with cats Tom, Billie, Squiggie, Miss Belle, and Bubbabear.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fulton United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 907, Fulton, MS 38843 or Tupelo Lee Humane Society.
The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the Fulton Police Department, and the North Mississippi Medical Center first responders for their professionalism, care and concern in their response to the accident that Mrs. Leathers was involved in.
