Emery Bart Smith Jr., 83, of Florence, Alabama (formerly Iuka, Mississippi), joined in heaven his beloved wife of 58 years, Maye Adams Smith, on February 18th, 2015. He will be remembered as a principled and hardworking man with a quick wit and an easy smile. Bart had a fulfilling 39-year career with General Motors. Those remembering Bart will know the joy he felt behind the steering wheel of either his John Deere riding mower or the latest model Cadillac. He is survived by his son, Emery Bart Smith III of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and 4 daughters, Paula Harrington (Joe) of Mobile, Alabama; Lynn Ticco (Paul) of Charlottesville, Virginia; Carole Smith of Florence, Alabama; and Anne Brandenburg (Jay) of Bolingbrook, Illinois; 2 loving sisters, Dorothy Jean Gober (Claudis) of Iuka, Mississipi and Billie Dean Bishop (Tom) of Nesbit, Mississippi; 4 grandchildren, April Smith, Daniel and Milly Lopez and Kate Brandenburg; and 2 great grandchildren, Alyssa and Loren Hall. Visitation will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, February 21st, followed by an 11:00 service officiated by Brother Jerry Rea in the Chapel of Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka, Mississippi.The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Webb and the staff of Hospice of the Shoals for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be offered to Hospice of the Shoals in Florence, Alabama.
