Elvina Judy Dodd, 71 of Haleyville, Alabama, passed away Monday, December 11, 2023, at her residence.
She was born July 4, 1952, in White House Community, Alabama. Judy graduated from Phillips High School in 1970. She was a member of Oak Grove Church of Christ and loved going to church as she taught Bible Study for over 50 years. Judy also loved taking kids to local VBS. She also enjoyed going to church singings. Judy loved going to Tiger Den and loved going to get her hair done every Saturday. She loved her family and friends and always had a smile on her face.
Visitation will be on Thursday, December 14, 2023, from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Haleyville. The funeral service will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Oak Grove Church of Christ, where Mrs. Dodd will lie in state from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow the services in the adjoining cemetery. Vance Hutton and Jeff Jenkins will officiate.
Judy is survived by her husband, Jerome Dodd; son, Jake (Alicia) Dodd; daughter, Jessica (Tracy) Lee; grandchildren, Corey (Crystal) Lee, Braxton Lee, Tyson Lee, Jacob Dodd; great grandchildren, Braxton and Kensley Lee, and one on the way; sisters, Edweana Brock, Ellen Rogers, and Evelene (Joe) Faircloth; brothers, Buddy Cummings, Elton Cummings; brothers-in-law, Charles (Lois) Dodd and Gary (Diane) Dodd; sister-in-law, Wynonia Dodd; a host of nieces and nephews; and a special care giver, Heather Wallace.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Florene Cummings; grandparents; brother, Ed Wendel Cummings; sisters-in-law, Gwen Cummings and Mary Dodd; brothers-in-law, Ricky Rogers, Steve Dodd, Jack and Hoyt Dodd, Loyce Dodd, Ricky Dodd, Quinton Dodd, Frank Dodd Jr., and Roger Dodd; father and mother-in-law, Frank and Ella Dodd; and a host of family and friends.
