Elva Mae Cucunato

Elva Mae Cucunato, 89, of Cullman, Alabama entered into rest on April 30, 2021 at Woodland Haus in Cullman, Alabama.

 

Mrs. Cucunato was born on June 9, 1931 in Houston, Alabama. Elva graduated from Addison High School in 1950 and was a military wife for 22 years. She had dreamed of becoming a teacher so she attended Birmingham Southern University where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in 1981. In 1984, Elva went on to receive her Masters in Elementary Education from the University of Central Florida. Mrs. Cucunato retired after 20 years of teaching and loved making a difference in children’s lives. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene in Cullman, Alabama. Elva was a loving and devoted mother who always enjoyed life and was a positive influence on others.

 

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 from 10:30am-11:00am at Nichols Funeral Home in Addison, where services will be held at 11:00am. Pastor Scott Sessions will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Houston, Alabama.

 

Elva is survived by her son, Michael (Peggy) Burkett; sister, Edna Box Hill; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Cucunato; son, Richard Jerome Burkett; parents, Wesley and Pearl Box; sisters, Eva Box, Era Box, Edith Box Sellers; and brothers, Charlie Box, George Box, Luther Box, Thurlow (Red) Box, and Perry Jackson Box.
