Obituaries in Hendersonville, NC | Times-News Elsie Proctor-Hard, 97, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2022 in Hendersonville, North Carolina. Elsie was born in Charlotte, North Carolina on July 18, 1924 to Ellen Proctor Moulds and James Jefferson Moulds. She is survived by her four children: Patti Hard (Tom Kirk) of Harrodsburg, Kentucky, John S. Hard II of Berkeley, California, Robert J. Hard (Kimberly Rydel) of San Antonio, Texas and James C. Hard (Mary Beth) of Athens, Alabama. She had five grandchildren: Christopher Hard (deceased), Benjamin Hard, Katherine Hard, Wesley Hard (Caitlin) and Matthew Hard (Morgan). She is also survived by step-grandson Gary Kirk (Jeannette), and step-great-grandchildren Rachel Kirk (Justin), Dylan Kirk and Madalyn Kirk and nephews Chip Goerhing and Jeff Moulds.

Elsie attended Hendersonville High School and Cecil’s Business College in Asheville, North Carolina. She and former husband John S. Hard (deceased) raised four children in Decatur, Alabama. Elsie reentered the workforce in 1965 and had a career with South Central Bell, Birmingham, retiring in 1989. She returned to college at Birmingham-Southern College graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration in 1982. She was an active church member at Trinity Episcopal Church of Asheville and proudly served her roles as daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, homemaker, and businesswoman. Elsie enjoyed genealogy, gardening, cooking, traveling, reading, sewing and living in the mountains of western North Carolina in her formative and later years. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Friends of Henderson County, North Carolina Public Library. The family will hold a celebration of life service at Shepard Memorial Park Cemetery in Hendersonville at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 17, 2022. The Rev. J. Clarkson, of Calvary Episcopal Church, will officiate.
