Elsie Eve Baker, age 82, of Florence, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015. Visitation will be today from noon until 2 p.m. at Elkins Funeral Home of Florence. Services will be at 2 p.m. in the chapel with Randy Burbank and Wayne Green officiating. Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Park.
Elsie is survived by her husband, Samuel C. Baker, of 65 years-they celebrated their sixty-fifth on Dec. 25, 2014; three daughters, Teresa Bourland (Jim), Jean McCreless, and Frances Springer; two grandchildren, Aundra Quinn (Chris) and Eric Bourland (Mandy).; six great-grandchildren, Courtney Quinn, Brooke Quinn, Kellie Martin, Daniel Benefield, Dakota Benefield, and Garrett Bourland; and one sister, Marlene Whitten.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Harvey Pruitt and Octavia Stults Pruitt, five brothers, Carver, Jim Marshall, John Wesley, Andrew, and Tommie Pruitt, and three sisters, Castile Stricklin, Elizabeth Pruitt, and Josie White; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Jim Bourland, Eric Bourland, Chris Quinn, Ronald Inman, Buck Puckett, and Jerry Clemons. Honorary pallbearers will be Leon Pruitt, Ray Pruitt, and Roy Knight.
Mrs. Baker was a member of Weeden Heights United Methodist for 50 years. She enjoyed working with the Meals on Wheels program as well as travel, needle point, and her flowers.
