Elois Wilbourn Hughes

Elois Wilbourn Hughes, 83, of Hazel Green, passed away on Thursday.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, and was known by her family as “Nanny”.

Mrs. Hughes had retired from the Madison County License Department where she worked for more than 30 years.  She was a hard-working, determined woman who was twice a survivor of cancer, beating the odds and never giving up.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie “Chigger” Hughes. Her parents, Henry & Pearline Wilbourn.

Surviving family members include her son and daughter-in-law, Jeff & Kelly Hughes;  Her grandson, Coty (Heather) Hughes;  Granddaughter, Haley Hughes;  Grandson, Jacob Hughes;  Her great-granddaughter, Victoria Hughes;  Her sister, Kathleen Patterson.  She is also survived by her nephew, Ricky Patterson and her niece, Michela Johnson.

The family will receive friends on Saturday evening from 5pm until 8pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be Sunday at 2 at the funeral home with Pastor Lon Ostrzycki officiating.
